Champlain Residential Centre <\/p>\n<\/div>

A center rooted in its history and evolution<\/h2><\/div>

The Champlain residential center<\/strong> has been merged with other centers in the area, CLSCs, and the Verdun Hospital into a single entity called the Centre int\u00e9gr\u00e9 universitaire de sant\u00e9 et de services sociaux du Centre-Sud de l\u2019\u00cele-de Montr\u00e9al (Integrated University Health and Social Services Center of the South Central Island of Montreal).<\/p>\n<\/div>

Opened in 1976 as a long-term and short-term care facility, the Champlain Hospital in Verdun<\/strong> has since expanded its scope of services.<\/p>\n

As early as 1978, the reorganization of the physiotherapy department and the acquisition of modern equipment made it possible to serve a clientele of workplace accident victims.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Growth marked by expansion of services and capacity<\/h5><\/div>

This was followed by the Day Hospital in 1989, fiduciary responsibility for the Southwest Mobile Dental Health Clinic for seniors in residential care (1988), and the opening of the Occupational Injury and Illness Clinic and the Occupational Therapy Unit in 1990.<\/span><\/p>\n

The capacity at that time was 112 beds, divided into 32 short-term care beds and 80 long-term care beds.<\/strong> As early as 1985, intensive efforts were undertaken to increase this capacity. Construction work began in July 1993 and was completed in February 1996. The Champlain Residential Center now has a capacity of 228 beds.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Our mission and commitment to users<\/h2><\/div>

Provide adults with reduced independence with a permanent, safe, and adapted living environment<\/strong>, as well as accommodation, support, supervision, and care services designed to meet their physical, psychosocial, and medical needs.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Provide outpatient day hospital and rehabilitation services to an external clientele.<\/h5><\/div>

The organization supports and participates<\/strong> in health promotion activities, collaborates<\/strong> with educational institutions to train health and social services professionals.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The territory refers to the southwestern part of the Island of Montreal,<\/strong> namely: Verdun, LaSalle, Ville-\u00c9mard, C\u00f4te St-Paul, Pointe St-Charles, St-Henri, Lachine, and Ville St-Pierre.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Champlain Residential Center has a total of 228 beds<\/strong>, including 99 beds for long-term care<\/strong>, 70 beds for people with intellectual disabilities,<\/strong> 54 beds for URFi and SPA rehabilitation<\/strong>, and 5 beds for palliative care<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

      * Certain services, such as hairdressing, podiatry, telephone, and cable, are paid for by users or their sponsors.
      Laundry service is provided free of charge by staff.
